I find the "blown out" highlights of the album art to be distressing. When the RGB pixel values in the artwork approach white (255, 255, 255), there are terrible reversals and color artifacts on the display.
If you have Photoshop, you can modify your album art image file to avoid this... in the Levels window, under the heading "Output Levels", change the white point from 255 (the default) down to 235 or so. This will remap the pixels so that each color channel (R, G and B) will range from 0 to 235. If you view this image on the Duet controller, you will find that all the reversals and color artifacts are gone. Of course you wouldn't want to have to do this to all of your album art, but it is a good demonstration of the dramatic improvement that could be had. What I would like to see is an option in the Settings menu that level-sets the display of all images (album art and custom wallpapers) on the fly. Re-scaling each color channel to 0..235 would be a good default. If the Jive code has a common routine for processing images for display, it would be a good place to make the adjustment. If this is done the usable viewing angle of the device will be greatly enhanced.
