That's easy. The slim devices actually support two remote code sets. One 
for the Slim remote and the other for a JVC DVD player. You can select 
in the player settings to which set each player should respond. Now buy 
a universal remote and set it to the JVC DVD player. The JVC remote is 
there because when SD was poor and tiny, they didn't have the resources 
to develop their own remote yet, so they sold the SliMP3 with a Sony 
universal remote that  was set to the JVC codes. (or did we have to 
program that ourselves? I don't remember).
