I realized the same thing in the last couple of days. However, for me, I think it's worth the added convenience I will have of keeping my entire library up-to-date and being able to use the controller for making MIP mixes. Also, did you realize you can schedule SC scans daily? If not, you will find it under "Settings->Plugins->Rescan Music Library". This is for SC 7.1, not sure about earlier versions. So, if you have it set to scan every at night or during the day when you're at work, it shouldn't be too much of an issue.
