You will have to go into the SC7 menu and check off the JVC_DVD for remote. SC7 > Settings > Players > Remote Again, if you don't want to go the Harmony route, borrow a friends JVC DVD player remote, test it to be certain it functions as you need, then program that remote (code or learn function) into any universal remote.
