If you have a wireless network in the house anyway the controller can
use that permanently without the need for an ad-hoc connection to the
receiver. Although you may need to have it create an ad-hoc connection
to switch over to wired from wireless, then switch back to your
wireless network.

I decided to use home plugs (Netgear 200HD) as a method of getting more
reliable connections. I did try the MaxValue ones from Amazon but they
are rubbish (even the 85M ones) they slowed the rest of the network
down all the time. So went with the more expensive Netgear ones.
