For backup - copy the file called favorites.opml and it is stored in the Playlist directory. I'm not sure where it is saved if playlist directory is not defined perhaps cache directory.
In theory you can change the permission of the favorites.opml file but that might break some parts of SC. You can edit favorites using Web interface.
