Well upgrading to 7.1 from 7.0.1 could trig a rescan ? but player firmware ?
anyway the "solution" can be wiping out your cache folder, if you do that a new rescan is triggered but it might actually complete and you have working dB again. I would of course shutdown SC then erase cache and restart again. If you go to settings and then the status tab and scroll down a bit, there you have the location of you cache folder in plain text, so you know where it is. Well i have 16000 files on an Mini-ITX server 1.2ghz no fan very slow hardware it completes within 45 minutes including artwork etc. A "real" computer should do this a lot faster. Btw i had some version's of SC where status page didn't update properly, the scan was finished, but still showed scanning in progress bla bla... I had to refresh or something (maybe restart browser and check previus scan to result).
