No, at least you and I agree on silent. But my quad core machine is relatively quiet and it was not designed to be low noise or low power. There are tons of machines that are lower noise and lower power than my quad. I think most of the complaints are from folks trying to use cheap NAS boxes, which is in itself a mistake IMHO.
