We are not welcome to continue using git.gnu.io Sorry I didn't make that clear. Gnu.io is an independent project and they themselves are moving to githost.io, so their existing server is going away. git.gnu.io was never a public server, it was just us using someone else's project server because we had no other option easily available at the time. The alternative to githost.io would be to use gitlab.com directly. Either way, GitLab is paying for and handling our hosting including updates etc. To be clear: GitLab is moving git.gnu.io from a separate instance thing to being run by githost.io and in conjunction with that change, gnu.io folks asked GitLab to give us a separate server because they don't want us piggy-backing on their server any more after this shift given that we have an offer to have our own.
