Software Carpentry Week in Review: September 1-7, 2014 What’s happening
this week

The Mozilla Science Lab is launching a new initiative to boost
collaboration between the different organizations teaching software
bootcamps these days: Friday’s Instructor Hangouts. If you are part of
Software Carpentry, Ladies Learning Code, rOpenSci, the Center for Open
Science, Code4Lib, pyLadies, or a similar tribe, please find the details

Workshops

   - Alex Viana and Raniere Silva taught not one
   <http://r-gaia-cs.github.io/2014-09-01-ccsl/> but two
   <http://r-gaia-cs.github.io/2014-09-04-ccsl/> workshops at the Centro de
   Competência em Software Livre at the Universidade de Sao Paulo, in Brazil.

Upcoming workshops

   - Set 11–12: University of Delaware.
   - Set 13–14: University of Waterloo, Canada.
   - Set 15–25: University of Melbourne, Australia.
   - Set 16–17: Imperial College, London, UK.
   - Set 18–19: University of Chicago.

Lesson development

During this week, 7 pull requests were merged, 3 issues were closed, and 4
issues were opened. In addition to the merges, we had 9 commits made by
Jonah Duckles, Ethan White, Raniere Silva, Doug Latornell, and John
Blischak.

bootcamp for
      Women in Science and Enginnering, this time at *the Univeristy of
      Michigan* in January.

      - Workshop in the UK, at *Liverpool, Didcot, and Oxford*, need
      instructors in November.
    - *Africa*
      - Two instructors needed for a workshop in *Cape Town* in November.
