Software Carpentry Week in Review: September 15-21, 2014

What’s happening this week

Our monthly Lab Meeting is back from its summer vacation. It will be held in
two sessions, on September 25 and 26, to adapt for time zones and busy
schedules. As usual, feel free to propose topics for the meeting.
Two bootcamps, at Yale and UCSF, need instructors in October. If you have some
free time and want to teach them, take a look below.

London.

Lesson development

During this week, 5 pull requests were merged, 2 issues were closed, and 1
issue was opened. In addition to the merges, we had 26 commits made by Ethan
White, Raniere Silva, Dan MacLean, Jonathan D. Strootman, Greg Wilson, Tom
Wright, Damien Irving, Mark Stillwell, and Matt Davis.

Other news

As Software Carpentry grows, it is harder to handle all the pull requests that
our roughly hundred contributors make. Greg Wilson proposed to have topic
maintainers for lessons in our main repository. We will vote on Greg’s
proposal on this week’s Lab Meeting.
Want to be a data scientist? Tianhui Michael Li, Executive Director of The Data
Incubator, explains in our blog how to prepare for the Data Incubator program.
