Dear all,
we are currently having an open position for a second assistant
coordinator here at the Master in High Performance Computing in Trieste
(www.mphc.it).
We just started the activity of this first edition of the master and we
would like to enlarge our team with somebody higly motivated in HPC and
its educational and training aspects, interested in taking an active
part in the succcess of this initiative.
Deadline to receive application is 31.10.2014.
Description of duties:
The Assistant Program Coordinator will be working in close collaboration
with the Program Coordinator in the overall organization of the master.
The successful candidates will be expected to:
- Collaborate with the rest of the staff of the Master Program and/or
the ICTP/SISSA scientific staff on specific research projects and
initiatives promoted within the Master.
- Work closely with lecturers to prepare exercises, programs and tutorials
- Participate in supervision of Master's students and their general
lab-related activities.
- Collaborate with other staff members in maintaining the existing
master's HPC services (HPC labs etc.. ) and proposing new/advanced ones.
Qualifications:
- Experience with managing Linux servers.
- Experience in compiling, installing and maintaining scientific
software packages and libraries on HPC infrastructures
- Experience in parallel programming (MPI and/or OpenMP)
- Experience (basic) in software engineering techniques and tools (like,
for instance, software revision systems, testing procedures etc..)
- Programming/scripting skills, ideally including bash and python
- Experience in using and supporting parallel or distributed computing
architectures
- Experience in teaching/tutoring at university level and/or in
international environment is a plus
- Fluency in English.
