Hi all, I wanted to write with an ad for a postdoc at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), located at University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign.
http://www.ncsa.illinois.edu/about/jobs/postdoc_astro We're looking at hiring a couple people (at least three, possibly more), and one of the big focuses is going to be on software, integrating with scientific software communities, and developing tools for data analysis. There may be a second ad later on that makes this more explicit, but I wanted to write to this list with the ad because I think the types of interests and skills we're looking for are all really aligned with Software Carpentry. The position is listed as being in astronomy, but one direction we're strongly pushing is interdisciplinary work, so if you're not an astronomer but have interest in developing open source, community-focused scientific software, it could very well be a good match! The astro group here has worked in things like yt (yt-project.org), cactus (cactuscode.org), and is also involved in the WSSSPE conference series, data sharing services, and so on. Anyway, if this is interesting, feel free to email me with questions or to put in an application! Thanks, Matt _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.software-carpentry.org/mailman/listinfo/discuss_lists.software-carpentry.org
