List members may be interested to know that a proposal for an "Open Science" stackexchange is now entering the commitment phase:
http://area51.stackexchange.com/proposals/65426/open-science?referrer=GZeErBWLyhelvQRFh5DO2w2 What this means: Stackexchange sites are community-run question/answer sites. If you've used StackOverflow, which is the original site that the others grew from, then you'll get the idea. When new sites are proposed, they go through a number of phases. At this point the scope of the site has been loosely defined, and a certain number of commitments are needed from people that, if it is launched, they will participate for the first few months. If this is achieved, it will go forward to launch as a beta site. The description for the proposed site is, "Proposed Q&A site for scientists interested in openly sharing their research; for anyone interested in open access to research results; for publishers, librarians and other Open Science stakeholders." That sound as though it has some relevance to this list :) I'll post again if/when it makes it to beta.
