All, Southampton Uni has a recently established doctoral training centre (DTC) for "Next Generation Computional Modelling": http://ngcm.soton.ac.uk/
As part of their training courses, they're teaching "advanced computational methods" which have a strong overlap with SC topics (see in particular the second tools topics link): http://www.southampton.ac.uk/~feeg6003/index.html http://www.southampton.ac.uk/~feeg6003/pages/tool-topics.html Those workshops are also open to anyone at the uni. I don't know if SC (or the UK SSI) has links with Hans Fangohr (the head of the NGCM), but it might be a link worth forging.
