Gamers create a lot of interesting hardware and software that can be leveraged
for capturing multiple screens/windows/cameras. We've been using this approach
for over a year now and recently were pretty impressed with Open Broadcaster
Software (https://obsproject.com/) for stitching different inputs together and
capturing them.

@Javier - This post has a link to a workshop I recorded last year:

@Laurent - As far as I'm aware Greg has done a lot of thinking about recording
software (because it's used in the instructor training course) and has
concluded that Camtasia is the best.

Hi All,

On that topic: I was planning on recording a small demo screencast for our
users to see if it was worth the effort. Any advice on the software to use? I
use a Mac and the best I could find so far is Camtasia Studio, but I would
prefer something free and/or open source. Any recommendation?

Ideally, I would like to be able to edit afterwards and capture a particular
window only instead of the whole screen.

Thanks,
Laurent

Hi Javier,

Not really - the screencasts I made of the Version 4 material in 2010-11 are on
YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/softwarecarpentry, but they're out of
date and no longer being maintained.

Cheers,
Greg

Hi all:

Is there a youtube channel available with recorded live lectures?

Thanks,
