SWC has always had a tendency to prefer native solutions, so a -1 on Docker is
consistent with that.  If we can identify a good native package manager that
works robustly and is widely used, I for one would be overjoyed - even if it's
a large download.

That having been said, I hope Docker can become a solution for robustly
teaching "edge" tools that aren't core enough to SWC/DC to target maintenance
resources on.  This applies to many bioinformatics programs, for example,
and could be a really nice solution.

We're doing a Docker hands-on in a week [0] with one goal of seeing whether
or not it's easy for many people to install Docker.  If anyone has any
suggestions for additional things you'd like us to test, please drop me
a note off-list!
