Hi all,

Our lab is preparing to post a job up for a research programmer /
sysadmin / scientific support person (my job, actually) in the coming
weeks, but I wanted to advertise it informally here first because I
think it's a really great fit for SWC folk.

The lab is the Translational Imaging-Genetics Research lab[0] at the
Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in downtown Toronto. We are an
academic hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and we work
with genetics, and structural and functional brain imaging (mostly MRI,
some EEG) of humans to understand mental illness and healthy aging. The
lab is a diverse mix of students/fellows/staff from a range of
disciplines (neuroscience, psychology, bio, CS, engineering, etc..). We
have lots of data and compute power, and are always developing new
methods, which is where you come in.

We are looking for someone who is motivated, and experienced as a
software developer (Python, R, Shell primarily), and who has experience
also as a system administrator for our linux-based servers, workstations,
compute clusters and software base. The candidate will be working mostly
in a support capacity, as you will be teaching and working others (often
with limited computational background) to design and implement their
analyses[1]. You will also be able to do your own research if that's
something you're interested in. Some MR imaging experience would be very
helpful, but not necessary; also at least a MSc would be preferred
(although again, not totally necessary). Start date would be July/August
2016.

If you're interested, please shoot me an email and tell me about
yourself, and ask me anything about the job.

Thanks,
Jon.

[1] And in fact, I've been organising institutional-wide SWC-inspired
training workshops, so you can certainly take this work outside of our
lab: http://bit.ly/compucool
