We're very pleased to announce the publication of a new version of the
Software Carpentry lessons - as

the new templates have been incorporated, the build process has been
simplified, and they have been issued DOIs. We're very grateful to
everyone who contributed, to the maintainers for all their hard work
editing and merging, and to Rémi Emonet, who handled the release management.
We are equally pleased to announce that the Data Carpentry and Software
Carpentry Steering Committees have jointly approved a plan for
incubating new lessons - see
http://www.datacarpentry.org/blog/lesson-roadmap/ for a discussion, and
either http://www.datacarpentry.org/lessons-incubation/ or
http://software-carpentry.org/lessons/incubation/ for the text. If you
have questions or comments, please add them to the blog posts, and we'd
