Hello all,
I just wanted to make everyone aware of an available tenure-track position in
Data Science & Engineering at Oregon State University:
The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) and the School
of Mechanical, Industrial, and Manufacturing Engineering (MIME) at Oregon State
University (OSU) invite applications for one or more full-time (1.00 FTE),
9-month tenure-track faculty position in either school in the area of Data
Science and Engineering to begin September 16, 2017. The priority will be
toward candidates with either a demonstrated record of research in data mining,
signal processing, machine learning, and data visualization for big data, or
applications of such methods to big data to provide solutions and insights into
complex scientific, engineering, operations, and/or business problems. The
schools are especially interested in candidates whose research aligns with the
College of Engineering's strategic research areas: precision health, clean
energy, resilient infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing.
Appointment is anticipated at the Assistant Professor rank, but candidates with
exceptional qualifications may be considered for appointment at the rank of
Associate Professor or Professor. Applicants must hold a PhD by the time of
start date in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering,
Mechanical Engineering, or other relevant field. The successful candidates will
have an administrative home most appropriate to their area of expertise within
EECS or MIME. The successful candidate is expected to initiate new funded
research as well as expand, complement, and collaborate with existing research
programs in the Schools of EECS and MIME, the College of Engineering, and
beyond. Further, applicants should demonstrate a strong commitment to graduate
and undergraduate teaching, including developing and teaching new courses
related to their research expertise.
OSU is located in Corvallis, at the heart of Oregon's Willamette Valley.
Surrounded by forests and mountains, Corvallis combines the amenities of a
college town with ample opportunity for outdoor recreation and fresh local
food. Portland, the Cascade mountain range, and the Oregon Coast are all within
easy reach.
Other duties and required qualifications are listed in the position
description. To apply, please navigate to the OSU Jobs website
http://jobs.oregonstate.edu/postings/34435
<http://jobs.oregonstate.edu/postings/34435> and submit the following
documents: a letter of interest; curriculum vita; a two-page statement of
research interests; a one-page statement of teaching interests; one-page
statement outlining how your experience, education, and/or training might help
us build a more inclusive, collaborative and diverse community; and names and
contact information for at least three references. The position is open until
filled. To be assured full consideration, applications should be received by
January 16, 2017.
