   - automating tasks using the Unix shell;
   - structured programming in Python, R, or MATLAB; and
   - version control using Git or Mercurial.

I helped run a few successful ones through KAUST and Saudi Aramco when I
was in the area, feel free to ping me off-list if you have any questions.
