Hi, I will be giving a workshop <http://neic2017.nordforsk.org/workshops/software-carpentry/> on Software Carpentry at the Nordic e-Infrastructure Conference <http://neic2017.nordforsk.org/> on May 29th in Umeå, Sweden. Not a regular Software Carpentry workshop, but:
In this workshop, you will become acquainted with the ‘Carpentry’ model of teaching, and experience first-hand how a workshop is being run. You will learn about how lesson material is developed collectively, and how volunteers can become certified instructors. You will learn how the Carpentry effort at the University of Oslo is organised, and how you can initiate or promote/stimulate such an effort at your home institution or in your area/country. We aim to both bring Nordic Software Carpentry and Data Carpentry folks together to initiate a network, as well as recruit others to become involved. As a result, we aim to broaden the geographic areas in the Nordics that are able to offer Carpentry workshops. If you are a SWC/DC instructor, instructor in training, or interested in becoming one, and live in one of the Nordic countries (Finland, Denmark, Norway, Iceland, Sweden), please consider participating and help start a Nordic network of SWC/DC instructors. The workshop program (May 29th and 30th) and conference (May 30th, June 1) may be of interest as well, see http://neic2017.nordforsk.org/schedule/ <http://neic2017.nordforsk.org/schedule/>. If you decide to participate, make sure to add your name to the SWC Events Meetup etherpad <http://pad.software-carpentry.org/swc-events-meetup>.
