Hi all, yesterday, I used mybinder.org to deliver a Python/Pandas lesson based on Data Carpentry’s Python for Ecologists - worked flawlessly.
Details here, http://ivory.idyll.org/blog/2017-four-steps-five-minutes-binder.html Upsides: * ~instantly give a class of 30 people separate but identical Jupyter Notebooks configured with data etc. etc. * very quick to configure and test! * no local install of packages other than a modern Web browser! Downsides: * environment expires after ~5 minutes of inactivity, so it’s best for quick demos and short workshops. * no local install of packages so students don’t walk away with a functioning environment on their own laptop :( (Soon there will be the option of providing RStudio Server binders, but not quite yet.) cheers, —titus _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.software-carpentry.org/listinfo/discuss
