Hi All, One of the suggestions that seemed to come up most often in our recent survey about instructor discussion sessions was the idea of having specific themes/topics for sessions, so we’ve decided to trial this in a few sessions over the coming weeks. As you’ll see on the etherpad here [http://pad.software-carpentry.org/instructor-discussion <http://pad.software-carpentry.org/instructor-discussion>], we have the following trial sessions scheduled:
- 23rd March - Host: Anelda van der Walt - Topic: Running workshops on limited budgets - 10th April - Host: Toby Hodges - Topic: Interpreting and acting on feedback and pre-/post-workshop assessments - 18th April - Host: Jamie Hadwin - Topic: Building a Local Carpentries Community: instructors, Helpers, Learners and Advocates - 20th April - Host: Toby Hodges - Topic: Best use of the etherpad in your workshop - 24th April - Host: Kari L Jordan - Topic: My first workshop/Navigating unpredictable learning environments If you’d be interested in attending any of these sessions, please go to the etherpad linked above and add your name under that session - we’d love to see you there! If the trial proves successful, we’ll add more of these themed sessions from May onwards. Come along, share your knowledge and experience, and learn from others in the community! To contribute to the discussion around these sessions, please use this etherpad [http://pad.software-carpentry.org/themed-discussion-sessions <http://pad.software-carpentry.org/themed-discussion-sessions>], which also includes a list of proposed topics for sessions and a draft schedule, or send us an email. We’d love to hear from you! Finally, thank you to all of you who filled out our survey on instructor discussion sessions. The data collected will be really helpful, and I’ve already spotted several really great suggestions for how we might improve the sessions in future. Watch this space for a summary of the results and how they will influence our future plans for discussion sessions. All the best, Toby & Marian Co-chairs, Carpentries Mentoring Subcommittee
