[sent on behalf of the LISA workshop coordinator] The deadline for workshop proposals for LISA 2009 draws near. If you have ever said "Why don't we have a conference or workshop about ..." then this is your chance to make it happen.
LISA workshops are limited-attendance (no more than 30 people) one-day mini-conferences that happen on the first three days (Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday) of the conference. They are generally focused on a specific topic and are intended to encourage active participation from all the people attending. In the past we have had workshops on: - Educating System Administrators - System Administrators in Educational Environments - System Administration in Governmental Environments - Advanced Topics is System Administration - Fighting SPAM - Micro-LISA (single-SA at a small site) - AFS - ZFS - Configuration Management and many, many more topics There are a total of 9 workshop slots available, three each day. To quote from the LISA 2009 Call for Participation: Workshops One-day workshops are hands-on, participatory sessions where small groups of system administrators have an opportunity to discuss a topic of common interest. Workshops are not intended as tutorials and participants are expected to have reasonable experience in the appropriate area???enabling discussions at a peer level. However, attendees with less experience often find workshops useful and are encouraged to discuss attendance with the workshop organizer. A workshop proposal should include the following information: Title Objective Organizer name(s) and contact information Potential attendee profile Outline of potential topics Please email your proposal to [email protected]. Workshop proposals are due May 29, 2009. Lee Damon Workshop Coordinator LISA 2009
