I only know about how this would affect linux webservers. One of the benefits of swap is it allows the kernel to move less used pages of memory out of active memory, and use it for things like disk buffers. If your web servers need to read in a lot of large, random files, being able to use that extra memory can improve the disk performance and subsequently speed up the apparent speed of the web server. -- Jonathan Billings <[email protected]> _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
