Do your users use services such as dropbox and google docs etc?  Which ones?

I'm sure some do.

If they do use it, do you, or IT/IS, or any other force wish they could take it away?

It would be nice. But educating everyone about FERPA requirements is something we need to do anyway.

What are the reasons?  (Pros & Cons)

Information disclosure, mostly. We're subject to FERPA so we need to be sensitive to where certain student information is actually kept. We're not moving to Google Apps or Hosted Exchange for much the same reasons.

What size organization are you?

Large, public, state-funded Higher Ed. We're subject to the state equivalent of Freedom Of Information Requests (Public Records Requests), which makes information security an interesting problem.

In your organization, who has the role of making these decisions?

No one or the departments individually, depending on who you ask, which has recently been pointed out by a very expensive security audit. I'm looking forward to getting a CSO in our organization somewhere.
