Good evening Vickie. I will call them tomorrow to find out if this is a demo limitation. Thanks for your thoughts and help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Weir" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "General discussions on all topics relating to the use of Mac OS X by theblind" <[email protected]>

You are using the demo and perhaps the busy is because it is designed to prevent you from using/exporting the output of the OCR since you have not bought the program, it only needs to show it can OCR etc. I have seen this with several other demo OCR programs. I am only guessing. There are so may reasons why one gets the VO busy message. Somehow the computer is locked up trying to do something or waiting for something. Is there an iris command you have not done perhaps? Vickie Weir

Good evening Vickie. Thanks for the info. I would like to be able to use the feature for exporting directly to an application. Have you ever tried this at all. I am wondering how to get around the busy problem. Thanks.

you could tell it to scan and save to the clipboard then manually tell text edit to paste the clipboard to a blank page then read it. Or you can write a script to automatically paste it to the text edit but this is more work. Vickie Weir

Good morning all. I am trying to work with a demo of readiris and am having the following problem. I would like the program to open text edit and export the results there so I can read the information before I save it. When I try to do this if I go to the settings menu, click text format, go to the popup that asked me to add an application then after clicking that selection I go again to the popup and select mac hd and then I get busy and the only way to close the app is by a force quite meaning I can't set this up the way I would like. Any way around this? The software does work with my scanner and I would like to buy it if I can work this problem out. I don't want to have to scan save and read it later because half the time I am scanning mail and don't know what it is until i read it. Thanks.
