I had a lot of problems with this at first too. Be sure you wait until after Katie player finishes talking. If you don't, things will appear to hang, and I've found no way to get it to behave after this point. I've tried getting it to produce a bug report, but since it doesn't crash, it refuses to make one <sigh> So, nothing to do but be patient. If you're still having trouble, let me know, and we can try a few more things. On Dec 8, 2005, at 8:34 PM, David Poehlman wrote:

Kattie player does nothing when you first start it up. Do not try using vo keys to navigate the screen, there's nothing to see. After you start Kattie player, wait for it to say it's piece. (katie player, version xxxxxx) and so on. After it says it's piece, then if you're loading from cd, just hhit command-l and it will read the cd, and begin reading the book. If you want to read from a directory on your hd, then hit the letter L first. This will switch over to disk mode. After that, you need to hit command- l to get it to open a dialogue so you can tell it where the books are. After that, it's the same as if the cd was in, once you choose a book, it begins reading, and the regular key commands apply for moving around in the daisy book.
Hope this helps.

Hey there, everyone.

I have KatiePlayer installed on my iBook. I tried to launch it and I don't get a thing. No speech, nothing. I'm trying to get it working so I can play RFB&D books. Yes, I have the registration for all of that, too.

I know I registered it way back when, the files are all there where they need to be, but something isn't being read or recognized or whatever, I guess. Anyone got ideas?

Jane
