I'm just now learning about macs and vo. However since there is the
command line access and one presumes access to lynx as a browser, then it
can be used as a newsgroup reader. You mention this is for a school class
which also suggests you have a shell account at school and using lynx in
the shell to access the newsgroups the school has. You can telnet to the
shell and use lynx as a newsgroup reader.
