Yes, and you can find the IP address of your wireless 
machine with System Preferences under 

System Preferences->Network->Show -> Airport->TCP/IP
(Select Airport under the dropdown show menu and the  
TCP/IP tab)

Another way to do this that you'll know from your linux 
background is with the ifconfig -a command in terminal.

I use:  ifconfig -a | grep broadcast 
and you'll get back a line with the IP address listed
