Sorry about that. It must be something else then because I cannot
seem to use bank of america and a number of other shopping sites.
I'm using the one obtained through darwin ports.

Why would you have trouble using it for ssl enabled sites? I've used
it with ssl for years. If the copy you have doesn't have ssl, find
another, or compile your own.
I've not played around with lynx too much, though I do have it
installed here. I'm working on a program that will read the terminal
screen automatically. After I get that working, I was planning on
going back to fiddle with lynx.

My next question was going to be does it have an option to change
the default browser. My question was easy to miss interpret.
I'd make lynx my default browser but know I'd have a heck of a time
using it for ssl stuff.

Hi
No, it's not a requirement and, interestingly enough, provides no
way to change the default by itself which is why I had to go
hunting for the option.
Appologies for misinterpreting your question and my response to it,
guess that's what I get for not thinking before typing--sheepish grin

I'd forgotten about that. Did you accomplish it? It looks like

Is it necessary to havve this browser be your default?
Well, I don't know. Is it necessary for me to be able to
customize my system the way I like? To answer the question: Yes,
it did work. Shiira seems to work better on some sites than
Safari, which is why I wanted to change it. It also allows the
User-Agent header to be changed, which can give me access to some
sites designed for IE only--my bank's site comes to mind here. I
couldn't figure out how to accomplish that in Safari, though I'm
sure there's probably a way to do this.
