If you're not opposed to using command-line utilities, I do have a
program that will let you play sound files from the terminal. It
will only play one at a time, though it does accept wild cards and
will play them one after the other if you do it that way, but if you
only want a single file played, it will do the job nicely. It's
another of the adc sample files, so it's free. I was going to wrap
an interface around it, and use it as a jukebox accessible to
voiceover, but I've not gotten that far just yet.
