Apart from the suggestion to  archive suggestion or  use zip tools 
there's a freeware utility called KopyMac that can be used for copying 
from HFS+(native Mac filesystem) to DOS formatted disks, mp3 players 
and digital cameras (without having to unzip).  This avoids the 
._ "Apple Double" files that get created by OS X to preserve metadata
when you insert a flash drive.
