I have a firewire hard drive as well. I leave it on all of the
time. The nice thing about the drive I have is tha it only spins and
runs when I need it to. When it was hooked up to my PC it ran all of
the time and I had to turn it off. Hooked up to my iMac it only runs
when I bring VO focus to that icon on my desktop or direct the
computer to look at something on it. It works very well.
