Thanks a lot scot. I haven't been using my windows pc at all until today
when i decided I need to sort out my email account.
I did get that tutorial. It certainly is useful. Now all I need to do is
make a quick user reference list of the commands I am strugggling to
remember such as text commands and things.
There are a lot of key commands to remember.
This list really is a life saver. you guys are great,
Thanks,
Jessica
p.s. oops
I just tried to use voice over commands to edit the text with jaws. lol

Jessica, first your correct, I understand the need for getting stuff
done, but let me assure you that if you do not force yourself to sit and
learn, you'll always feel like your spinning your wheels. I am an old
Linux hack and I use windows only when forced to do so. I've been using
the Mac now at home exclusively for several weeks and learning for a
month or so. I've begun to get really comfortable with the Mac, but
believe me there's a lot more to learn.
I highly recommend getting your hands on the VO tutorial that is in the
mp3 format which will verbally take you through a tour/learning process
which will further your abilities in using VO. I think this will really
help you and you'll feel much better. The main thing is you continue to
try and you'll find that in no time your using the Mac everyday. I am
even using my Mac to scan, pay bills online, surf the web, do e-mail,
burn cds, and so much more. I've only begun to really dig into the Mac,
but I'm finding that I can do everyting I was doing on the Linux and
windows machines and I only used windows mostly for the banking. I even
have my sighted wife now using a Mac and she's getting along, actually is
taking the time unlike windows to really learn the os and apps.
I will help you as best I can and I know others on this list will do so
as well.
Welcome and enjoy the ride.
Scott

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome.
I hope this is how to reply to messages. There was some confusion as to
weather or not replying went to the sender or to the list as a whole.
As far as my problem with firmware. It was certainly a fault in the
product. They took it back today and I got a new g5 instead. That one
was the mini mac, but i didn't want to wait for them to come back in
stock.
It's nice to pretend I'm rich sometimes. lol
Well, my first day was really confusing, and I'm back on windows because
Ii'm tired. I think my only struggle really, is going to be learning to
search all over the page for things.
I filled in a registration form and missed everything in the right
colum. ACK!
I've got the voice over manual and I am hoping there are shorter ways to
do things. I will try not to keep resorting back to windows as I know it
is just going to drag things out if I do, but I'm sooo very slow right
now.
Brings back fond memories of my first day with a windows pc.
Thanking god it's not win98,
Jessica

Well Jesica.
Welcome to mac, and hang in there, it gets easier. Keep using it, and
you'll be a convert in no time.

Greetings, I am a long time windows user. Due to the newest version
of tiger, I thought I'd give mac a go.
I'm lost and already having issues with firmware i think. So for now
I'll just say a quick hello until things become a bit more clear.
I must admit I'm really excited though. I always wanted to have
another option besides windows.
Cheers,
Jessica
