I think my problem is that her Mac doesn't see the printer at all. I'll have to be sure its setup to be shared. I previously had it connected to my Linux box using Cups, but I figured since the Mac uses Cups, it would work.

It's a bit tricky. If your printer is sharable, you may have to run printer set up from the print command even after you have selected it from the list. Not all printers are sharable.
