Hmmm, thought I read that the G5 was an IBM chip, maybe my info or memory is incorrect.

Several things here.
Currently, the motorola chips apple uses are roughly 50% faster than the equivalent intel based chips at the same MHZ rating. I don't know exactly this is, but I'd wager it's related to the way commands are executed in the pipeline of the chips. Next, viruses aare targeted to a specific os, not the processor. It doesn't matter what cpu is in your machine, if it's a virus written for windows, and you've got linux installed on your machine, it isn't going to affect your machine. As far as speed goes, Because intel uses a different manufacturing technique for it's chips, it still has lots of room to grow in the MHZ arena. Apparently, this is becoming increasingly less so for the processes used to manufacture the chips Apple is using at the moment, thus the switch. Yes, temporarily, the cpus will rate slower than existing macs, but given time, the new ones will outstrip anything available today in the mac world.

Last, these statements are my own as I understand the current state of affairs. Inaccuracies may be herein, and all errors are strictly my own. I've gathered this info from several different sources over the past couple years, and pointing to them all would be impossible, so errors are by default mine, since it's perfectly logical I misremember something, since I have none of the referenced material in front of me at this moment. However, I do believe all of the above asertions to be correct, and if they aren't, I'm sure others will correct.

I have heard recently that mac is changing to the intel processors. According to my brother, that is good, and it will make them faster, but I remember seeing a video on that mac website that you guys refered me to explaining why their processors are more efficient than the rest. Also, another guy said that these processors will leave the macs more volnerable to viruses. So, my question is, what does this mean, the conversion to intel processors. Will they make macs faster, or will they leave apple more volnerable to viruses? Isn't the determining factor on impermiability to internet intruders based more on the operating system rather than the hardware device that it runs on?
