Hi
Actually, I think this should be posted on list. Most of us have been
looking for accessible office suites and if there's a way to get
NeoOffice or OpenOffice's official X11 port to work I'm sure we'd all
like to know. I've got NeoOffice 1.2beta patch 3 installed here and,
as far as VO can see, all windows are blank with nothing in them at
all, including the dialog boxes. It would be really cool if this
could work.

I'm tempted to give that a try then. NeoOffice/J was allegedly native
MacOS. You happen to know which version they tried? I've been
looking for
an office suite for my Mac for yonks now.

mac right
now to back up my saying this..

Um ... did someone get OpenOffice running with the Mac and not
share with
the class? The last time I tried NeoOffice/J, at the very least,
VoiceOver
refused to acknowledge that the windows had any content.

If I were you, I'd come at this from a purely financial
standpoint. If they
purchase you a windows machine, they are going to have to pay for the
computer system, plus jaws or window eyes, plus any sma's you might
need.
For basically somewhere around $600, you can have a mac mini with
voiceover
and tiger that costs less. There is open office, which works as
well as
Word, and there are probably things that work for doing stats as
well that
I'm not aware of.
You're the consumer, don't let them kick you around. They are
*serving*
you, not being your custodian.
I don't think jaws nor win xp will run on a mac.
