Just as soon as I can find out where the heck Apple keeps the dock, I plan to write a program that allows us to move things to it. It's not a physical location/directory, so it must be in one of thhose preference files. I've not (yet) checked them all, but I did do a pretty thorough search of directories with a program that doesn't hide directories like the finder does, and I've found nothing that could possibly be mistaken as the dock. It's there somewhere though, and when i find it, not being able to put things in the dock w/o it running is one of the first things I plan to remedy. So, if anyone has any clues/ideas/suggestions/downright facts, send them over. This is one of the things that frustrates me enough to do something about it.

Or to put it another way, is there a way we can add icons to the dock without having to rely on someone whose eyes actually work, or is this like trying to set the preferences on dashboard widgets? My weather widget is still giving me data on Portland, Maine.
