Hi
Also, open disk utility and see if it shows up there. If it does, and appears to be mounted, you may be getting hit with the same OS X disk mounting problem that I'm getting, namely that when disks or disk images are opened or plugged in, disk utility mounts them but for some reason the rest of the OS doesn't know about it. I've not yet found a solution for this and it's annoying as all get out--although for me, a restart usually takes care of it.

I don't think removing those files makes any difference. I have also removed those and done other things to the card. Have you plugged this in and then look at your usb tree to see if it shows? You can do this by VO keys + m and arrow don't to about this Mac and then arrow to more info and interact with the table to locate usb information. This will give you some idea if it is seeing the reader to begin with. Are you going through a hub? I didn't get the impression you were, but thought I'd ask. I've bene using some reader I got at Walmart with success thus far.
