The most likely problem you're encountering is the default for type of account. It defaults to Apple's dot mac account. There's nothing to indicate this in the normal corse of configurations. The problem is that by default, the vo cursor begins in the box under the account type. If you don't know to go back and change that configuration item (something i've found no way to do after the account is setup) then you'll never get your mail, even if all the other options are setup correctly.

Good morning Caitlyn:

How are you getting your email. Are you getting email through hotmail or yahoo or are you getting it through comcast or your phone company. If you have not gotten any resolution to the problem, you are free to email me off list. there may be a few other questions worth asking. If you have gotten the problem solved already, congratulations and welcome to the wonderful world of mac. it truly is a great place (smile).----- Start Original Message -----

Subject: setting up Mail

Hi,

Can somebody walk me through how to set up an account in Mail? I finally got my powerbook! I tried to set up an account in Mail last night and
wasn't successful.

Thanks,
Caitlyn
