*grin* Despite it's faults and verbose english-like syntax...which can lead you into believing the language is more forgiving than other languages, which it's not...it's great fun to work with. And you can do a great deal with AppleScript. If you learn AppleScript now you'll also have a head start towards an even more powerful option - AppleScript Studio. AppleScript Studio work happens in XCode so you'll probably want to wait until XCode is more VO friendly (you'll recall we were reminded of existing VO + XCode difficulties by Travis) but you'll be happy for the AppleScript background once that option becomes available to you (hopefully in the reasonably near future).

Hi Jane,

First order of business is to get a look at Safari's scripting dictionary so you can find out what the application will let you do with AppleScript. In Script Editor:

1. Select "Open Dictionary" from the file menu.
2. Select "Safari" from the big list of scriptable applications. Select/click the dialog's "Open" button. Scripting dictionary will open.

Following is line to Apple's official developer documentation for AppleScript. It includes a "Getting Started" section which is worth working through.

I hope the info helps!

Well! At least I have AppleScript editor working. Now to figure out how the heck to make that script. Hmm. I have the manual after all now.

Any ideas where I need to start? <smile> I want to try and figure this one out if I can without having to go to Travis--but I will if I have to. :)

Hi Jane,

This sounds like a job for AppleScript.

Is there a way to have Safari open more than one page at startup? For instace, say I want to look at my friends' Livejournal pages and tab betwee them, can Safari be told to open up all the URLs at startup, or will it not work?
