Chuck Reichel reminded me about a macro program that I used extensively in
OS 9, QuicKeys. It was put out by C E Software, now Startly.

They have a 30-day demo. I downloaded and installed it and it seems very
accessible at the outset. That is, it appears that most things are done in a
very standard way in menus and dialogs. A couple of buttons could stand to
be named although the ones that aren't named generally have help tags. The
only unusual thing I noticed was
that, when navigating the menu bar, pressing Escape didn't exit the menu.
Instead, Command-period did the trick.
It might be worth checking out. I know there was some talk about remapping
keys. If I remember correctly, QuicKeys can do this.
