Adding New Sounds To Default Location

Hello List,

How can I add new sounds to the /system/library/sounds folder? When I  
go there with a file on the clipboard, paste becomes unavailable. I  
am sure I need root access to do this... which I mistakenly thought  
my default user had. Someone has privately suggested doing this  
through terminal, but I don't want to do this. Is there a way to do  
this through the GUI?
