What is interesting is the pc is a 1.1Ghz AMD and the AirPort is
2.4Ghz so I imagine its possible some harmonics, but a test would be
to stuff a PIII 550Mhz near it and see what happens.Nothing new
perhaps, but I had a Linksys previously that never behaved this way
and it was sitting about where the Extreme is now.
Go figure.

There's a reasn pcs have metal cases, or at least metal lined cases
anyhow. It's to block all the rf thrown off by various components
inside the machine. This is nothing new. Just try putting a
radio next to a machine, and watch what happens when you turn on
the computer. I've had machines where I couldn't have a radio in
the same room with them the interference was so bad. As processors
get faster, the rf they throw off will interfere with higher and
higher frequency things. Probably when the machines get a bit
faster, and you get one, your airport problem will go away, since
it will then be interfering on a freq that doesn't bother the extreme.

Folks, after a bit of testing and frustration, I finally realized
what was causing my Extreme to bail on me. It seems that my pc was
the cause. I don't know exactly why or how, but I have some ideas.
I had the case open and I guess some component in the machine upon
boot was generating so much damned rf interference, it would kill
the Extreme. I finally closed teh case and booted teh box and no
problems. This is surely one really strange problem. The pc is on
the floor and the Extreme is above it, but separated by two 3/4
inch boards, my desktop and shelf above that, and the distance is
about 5 feet. I've never run into something so insane as this.
