Hello Pete and all:
Please forgive me for my speedy response (wink). Knocked out by a
cold last week.
I got DVDs to work with only copying the main feature. I do not
know if it makes a difference though I closed the DVD program while
ripping the file. Previously, I had opened DVD player, then opened
mactheripper. While both were open, I extracted the file. This
allowed me to rip the whole dvd and play it back. though if both
were open while ripping the dvd, I could extract the main feature
though not play it using dvd player. If i inserted the dvd, closed
dvd player, opened mactheripper, selected main feature, and ripped
it, I could play back the ripped file containing the main feature
using dvd player. Why that works I have no idea although I was able
to repeat the process several times.
For what it is worth, that is the news from the front. Others are
welcome to try it and offer their findings. So, if you want to save
a little space on the hard drive and simply do not want all of the
extra stuff, it can be done. Hurray!!----- Start Original Message

Hey Patrick,
did you attempt to set the file type as a dvd file or did you start
DVD player and then use file open to select the file? i have had no
problems playing movies the i have extracted with Mactheripper, but i
have never tried copying only the main feature so i don't know if
that was the problem. when you tried to play it with DVD player, what
message did the application give you??
Hope this helps,
Pete

Good morning all:
I have a question about mactheripper. I have ventured into the
world of attempting to copy dvds, for my own use. I downloaded a
copy of mactheripper. I installed it and the installation seemed to
go well. I inserted a dvd and selected the copy only main feature.
The program seemed to work and the feature was copied. When I
opened the created folder, and clicked on a file, I was informed
that no selected application had been selected to play the file. I
attempted to select DVD player to play the file with no luck.
My question, am I missing something? Do I have to select another
application to play the file from my hard drifve? Can it be played
from the hard drive at all or does it require being burned to a
disk? yes, you can see that I am a novice. Mercy is requested
(wink).
I know there will be great advice forthcoming so thank you so much
in advance.
Take good care and I wish you enough.
