Acording to Apple you can not so either they have changed this recently or their sales and technical staff do not know this. Did you find this information on the Web? I think it would be worth it, I mean it would carry you out to a six full years and that would be well worth the price assuming they would cover tired old hardware; when the drive failes etc. Scott On Apr 27, 2007, at 10:49 PM, hank wrote:you can't get another 3 years? once the 3 years is up? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Howell" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "General discussions on all topics relating to the use of Mac OS X by theblind" <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, April 27, 2006 7:36 PM Subject: Re: Apple CareNo sir, it is not, once he 3 years is up, your done. You do have 1 year after the purchase date in which to purchase the Apple Care plan, but it is retroactive back to the date when the Mac was purchased. It is for 3 years and no yearly fee. I guess you could call Apple to find out about the package, what it currently includes and the price. I bought my iBook last May. Take Care John D. Two weeks ago, my iBook suddenly locked up and would not start. Fortunately, I was at a friend's house who is a very experienced Mac user and is one of the major influences in my switch from Windows to the Mac. He gave the unit a thorough look and he suggested that it was a good idea to contact Apple. His feeling was that there was some kind of a hardware problem. I contacted Apple and went through a series of experimentsdirected by the tech support person. Basically, it was the samethings my friend had done, but it confirmed what we alreadysuspected. There was definitely some kind of hardware issue thatwas preventing any power from getting to the board. So, because I have Apple Care, I received a box directly from Apple the very next day, shipped the unit to Apple and, within 48 hours, I had my fully functioning iBook back in my possession.Yes, folks, the cost of buying Apple Care is worth it. I didn'tpay a dime to get my unit repaired. I can relay a few stories in regard to problems I've had with Window's laptops and dealing with specific companies that went far differently, so I'm more than satisfied with how Apple handled my particular situation.
