Also, I believe the OS runs these kron jobs at scheduled times that perform
some form of defrag as well.

About the defragging.... This is somewhat speculation so feel free to
YELL BS on me, but these are my 2 cents.
cent 1: When you upgrade software on there is a point in the load where
you will see the action optimizing... I have always thought that is part
of what it is doing.
cent 2: Spotlight and the OS keeps track of things in a much more
constant way. It is my understanding that the system architecture has a
much more advanced filing system... So I think the computer is always
keeping track of things so it doesn't need a special time as much.
Sorry if this message seems kindish... my 10 year old is talking to me as
I type so I think her speaking mannerisms may have snuck in....
