Hi,
It works just like OS X Extended but you cannot use file vault. As
far as I could tell, terminal also works about the same.
One thing I noticed was the machine ran somewhat slower and the
processor fan increased speed more often than when using Extended.
VO works about the same.

That's correct.
I reinstalled my OS without all the extra language translations,
without X code, and without all the bundled software like Office,
Apple Works, Quicken and a few other things. And all I used was
the #1 disk.
BTW, just for the heck of it, I also reinstalled once with the
Unix configuration to see what would happin. The only thing I
couldn't do under Unix was to use File Vault.

a choice to abort there instead and the OS install would be
